Don’t Use Celebrities For Advertisement – Gaming Commission To Betting Companies

The Ghana Gaming Commission has released statement to betting companies asking them to stop using celebrities in their advertisement or as brand ambassadors.

This comes as results of the increasing number of celebrities endorsing betting companies in the country.

According to them these celebrities with huge followers action may encourage people especially the young to bet.

They said;

“Operators shall not use celebrities in their advertisements to entice the general public to gamble,” the statement read.

“To ensure the new guideline is followed all advertisement must be approved by the commission to help protect not only underage persons but “the interests of punters, customers and stakeholders,”.

Again, there is a restriction on how betting advertisements are to be broadcasted.

Earlier this year, Nadia Buari, Wendy Shay, Efya, Jackie Appiah, Moesha Boduong, Salma Mumin, Selly Gally, Zynell Zuh, Sandra Ankobiah, Lilwin, and KiDi were all signed as ambassadors for Bet Planet, the biggest betting company in Ghana.
