JUST IN: Hearts of Oak Coach Papic Resigns

Head coach of Glorious Accra Hearts of Oak Kosta Papic has resigned from the club with immediate effect.

According to a multiple publication the Serbian ended his stay with the club following a misunderstanding with the club’s top hierarchy.



Coach Kostadin Papic has been with the club for the past three months after he took over from Edward Nii Odoom after just two matches of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League season.

The 60-year-old was appointed on November 30 last year but had to wait till December 13 to officially take charge of his first game which was against Dreams FC.

According to Joy sport the coach had told Hearts management that he was expecting a permanent job with a top club in Tanzania, and he was only going to help the Phobians until the East African club was ready.

The former Orlando Pirates coach was in charge of the Phobians for 10 games, winning four, drawing three and losing three.

This was Papic’s second-term at the Accra-based club with his first coming in 2008.

Currently, Hearts of Oak lies ninth position on the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League table with 17 points after match-day 13.

Papic has previously worked with Lobi Stars, Enyimba FC, Enugu Rangers, Maritzburg United, Orlando Pirates, Kaizer Chiefs, Young Africans SC, Chippa United, Black Leopards and Polokwane City.

Hearts of Oak is yet to confirm or deny the news.
