A loyal member of the ruling new Patriotic Party (NPP), actor, Prince David Osei has questioned President Akufo-Addo over his decision to introduce additional tax.

If you would recall, the Government through the Minister of Finance, Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu in delivering the 2021 budget last week announced the Government’s proposal of introducing six new taxes. The taxes according to the Minister of Information is to curb the debts incurred during the free water and free electricity period by the Government.


Kojo Oppong Nkrumah speaking to Joy FM’s Evans Mensah revealed the country spent about GHS 19 billion on COVID-19 related issues.

He posited the need for Ghanaians to pay 1% extra tax.

Prince David Osei, who campaigned for the NPP during 2020 elections reacting to it, has revealed on Instagram post that Akufo-Addo has made their work senseless following the introduction of new taxes.

He wrote…“If we campaigned for #4More4Nana to do more on the premise of free water&electricity during the pandemic and we turn around to tax the people, then it makes some of us who championed the course look mindless!”

He captioned it as;

Pls, Mr President I believe in you! There can be another way of recuperating the money lost other then citizens paying for the free usage of water and electricity you affectionately offered to them.. Thank You @nakufoaddo ❤️
