The Lawyer Vortia maintained that the punishment handed out to Akauepem Poloo was harsh since her misbehaviour on social media is nowhere close to murder or rape.

The mitigating factors in her favour are greater than the aggravating factors. When you consider this offence, it is not rape. It is not murder. It is a misdemeanour in which she could have been dealt with lightly,” he said.

Lawyer Vortia also added that the court failed to take the welfare of the seven-year-old son of Akuapem Poloo into consideration. Therefore, he will definitely seek an appeal in favour of his client in the fullness of time.
