Elmina Sharks Protest Against Legon Cities Ruling Out

The governing football body, the Ghana football association GFA through it Disciplinary Committee has dismissed Elmina Sharks protest against Legon Cities.

The Genesis of the whole protest is, Elmina Sharks have filed a protest against Legon Cities over the use of an unqualified player during their Ghana Premier League match week 33 fixture at the Nduom Stadium on Sunday.

The two team clashed where Sharks won with a 2-0 win over Legon Cities with goals from Bernard Boateng and James Bissue.

Two days after the game, Sharks filed a protest challenging the illegibility of Legon Cities defender Issaka Mohammed, arguing he was on 3 yellow cards prior to their clash.

According to Sharks, the player had earlier accumulated three (3) yellow cards prior to the game, and was thus, expected to face a mandatory one-match suspension in the fixture which Legon Cities lost 2-0.

Sharks claim the player who happens to be their former player received his first booking of the season while playing for Elmina Sharks in their matchweek 5 fixture against Ashantigold in Obuasi.

Again, he was booked in Elmina Sharks’ match week 7 game against Karela United in Anyinase before he was transferred to Legon Cities. He received his third yellow card in Legon Cities’ matchweek 25 away game against WAFA and therefore was not eligible to feature n Sunday’s game.
